Construction Report – June 2011
Work is nearing completion! As of May 31, 2011, the project is 92% complete, with much of the remaining work in the parking lot. Here’s what’s been done:
- Brick Masonry/stucco -- Completed.
- Exterior windows -- Completed.
- Roof -- Completed.
- Drywall -- Completed.
- Painting -- East Stairwell, mechanical rooms and touch up remain.
- Fire sprinklers -- Substantially completed.
- Ceilings -- Finish commons and south and east stairwells, plus final install of ceiling tiles.
- HVAC -- Substantially completed; to be activated June 10.
- Plumbing -- Remaining fixtures to be installed by June 10.
- Lighting -- Commons remains to be completed.
- Cabinetry -- Completed.
- Carpeting -- Substantially completed; one classroom and one office remain.
- Wainscot tile and trim -- Some trim remains on first floor.
- Vinyl floors -- Small amount remains in basement.
- Tile floors -- Some remains in basement and first floor.
- Basketball hoops -- Installed.
- Gym Projection screen -- Installed.
- Bleachers -- Installed.
- Scoreboards -- Installed.
- Gym Floor -- Arrives June 25.
- Lockers -- Arrive June 25.
- Kitchenette -- Install of appliances remains.
- Window Blinds -- Install in progress.
- Stage Curtains -- Arrive June 7.
- Stage Lights -- Arrive June 7.
- Clocks/Intercoms -- Installed.
- Locker rooms -- Substantially completed.
- Exterior doors -- All installed, painted and keyed.
- Interior doors -- Nearly all installed; glass and locks remain.
- Partition walls -- Installed.
- Security system -- In progress.
- Wireless/phone -- In progress.
With great progress made on the building, beginning on May 31 five semi-trucks full of furnishings arrived. The building will be completely furnished and ready for classes in September!
Over the next few weeks, the gym floor will be installed, painted and varnished. The final work on the stage lighting, curtains and sound system will also be completed.
On June 21, the portables will be hauled away! At that time, the remaining work on the storm drains will be done. After that, the remaining sidewalks and plaza will be poured, and the parking lot will be paved. Exterior light posts will be installed, then the property will be landscaped and the soccer field will be re-furbished!

Here are some facts regarding the building project:
- Completed as of May 31, 2011: 92.1%
- Total number of square feet: 48,400
- Number of exterior bricks (estimated): 36,000
- Number of standard classrooms: 14
- Custom “lab” spaces: 5 (biology, physics, chemistry, art, music)
- Chapel with seating for 90-100
- Media center with IT room
- Locker rooms
- Full sized high school gym with bleacher seating for 225 people
- Main commons area with small kitchen alcove on first floor
- Commons areas for students on science floor and second and third floors
- Performance platform with stage lighting and curtains, plus huge projection screen for presentations
