High School Construction Update - March 2010

At long last, construction of our upper school is ready to begin! Join us for our groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 4:00 pm!

Our goal is to have the school completed by the end of Spring Break, approximately April 12, 2011! Strengholt Construction Company of Lynden has been selected to build the school.

This month will bring the start of active construction. First, the surveyors from PSE will arrive again and place flags at the precise locations where the building foundation footings are to be placed. Strengholt Construction will then prepare the site to pour the foundation footings for the classroom part of the building. Blythe Plumbing and Heating, the mechanical contractor, will install the plumbing work for under the building slab. Then the floor slab itself will be poured. Graycom will begin work on the concrete block fire stairwells on the east and west sides of the building. Steel rebar will be delivered, and the actual building will start to take shape!

You will also see a lot of mobilization activity. Strengholt has already delivered construction trailers, which you can see on the web camera. Cranes and other heavy equipment will start to arrive as well. We are underway!
