St. Paul's Academy is an independent, open, and tolerant community. In keeping with our Christian heritage, we warmly welcome students of all backgrounds and beliefs. Students are free to express their doubts and faiths here, and our aim is to open minds and foster respect for the worth and beauty of all human beings.
Students of all faiths attend the Academy, and we encourage them and their families to continue attending services at their own place of worship. While at school, all students attend Chapel services, which follow the practice of the Episcopal Church. These brief services bring us together to honor a loving God, to communicate – often playfully – about character strengths and virtues, to highlight student talents, and to announce items of interest to students and faculty. Our Chaplain aims to provide age-appropriate messages that address the practical and spiritual needs of our students.
St. Paul's Academy is neither governed nor funded by any outside religious or educational institution. We are a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools (www.naes.org), and our Little Epistles' Preschool rents space from St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where it was established in 1973.
Episcopal schools value student diversity. On average, 25% of their students have a parent who is Episcopalian. At our Academy, the figure is 10%.
Over the last ten years, we have been blessed with the support of Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and other non-Episcopalian community members who share a vision for educational excellence. They recognize that NAES schools have proven themselves to be among the world's finest educational institutions.
The writings and life of Paul the Apostle — indeed, the pattern of Biblical history — suggest that, through God's empowering will, ordinary lives become extraordinary. This Academy is founded on the belief that each student, however young or modest in abilities, has significant God-given potential, and deserves our full support.
