The academic program at the Upper School (Grades 6 – 10) aims to graduate motivated young scholars who are ready to produce excellent work at any fine college or university. To that end, we offer broad, rigorous training in the liberal arts and sciences. We stress independent thinking, writing, critical reading, self-discipline, and creativity.
At each grade level, the language and social studies curricula focus on a central subject, such as a period in history, a group of people, or a concept. Other disciplines (e.g., Science, Math, Art) can either be studied through the central subject or can leverage the central subject to augment a standard curriculum and expand thinking. This flexible program integrates diverse subjects and excites learning. Through a natural process, it helps students become better researchers and scholars.

St. Paul's Academy extends academic learning through unique travel experiences. Travel — at its best — allows for further exploration of central subjects and introduces students to cultures and customs different from their own. Students experience new ways of communicating and new ways of seeing.
